Sefer Yechezekel ספר יחזקאל Book of Ezekiel Study Lesson 22 (ch. 41-43)

Ezekiel 41

1. What is the “inner room” for, what is it called by name, what happens there, and how did it differ from both Solomon’s Temple as well as the 2nd?

2. What are vs. 5-15 describing (what part of the Temple Mt); and what are the challenges with understanding this section of the chapter for us?

3. Explain the symbolism and meaning of the cheruvim and palm trees on the panels and where they are placed?

Ezekiel 42

4. The final part of vs. 3 says: אַתִּיק אֶל-פְּנֵי-אַתִּיק, בַּשְּׁלִשִׁים atik el p’nei atik ba’shlishim – “gallery by gallery in three stories” – What was the function of this Pillar, what bearing did it have on the three floors, and why did the pillars cause a narrowing of the floors in vs. 5?

5. According to vs. 12-14 what were the purposes of these North and South chambers exactly?

6. What is the connection between the end of vs. 20, and the Sabbath.  How is the language of the end of vs. 20 used at the conclusion of each and every Shabbat?

Ezekiel 43

7. How does ch. 43 contrast with ch. 1; what happened at the banks of the River Chebar that is a testimony to Israel, and the nations; and what is the over all lesson of ch. 43?
